This Privacy Policy describes how the RefKick application ("RefKick", "we", "us") handles data. RefKick is an on-device referee assistant available for iOS and watchOS. The watch app is the primary interface used to control live match actions, and the iPhone app acts as a companion for setup and read-only match summaries.
RefKick is designed to minimize data collection. The app does NOT collect or transmit personal data to remote servers. Specifically:
All match state (team names, scores, card counts, timer state, timeline events, and movement route) is stored in memory during a match. Optionally the app may persist settings locally (e.g., UserDefaults) for convenience. RefKick uses Watch Connectivity (WCSession) to synchronize match state between the Apple Watch and paired iPhone. RefKick collects precise location data (GPS) via the Apple Watch during active matches to record the referee's movement path. This data allows the generation of a post-match heatmap for performance analysis. Location tracking is only active while the match timer is running. Location data is stored locally and synchronized to the iPhone, but is never transmitted to external servers.
We may collect your name and email address when you participate in in-app events. Your name and email will only be used to notify you of event results or prize delivery and will not be used for advertising or shared with third parties.
Any local data processing is used solely to provide the app’s core functionality: match timing, scoring, card tracking, heatmaps, and displaying summaries on the iPhone.
RefKick does not sell or share personal data with third parties. The app does not use third-party SDKs for analytics, advertising, or crash reporting.
We follow reasonable practices to protect local data on the device. However, no method of storage or transmission is 100% secure. Users are responsible for device-level security (passcode, encrypted backups, etc.).
RefKick is not knowingly directed to children under 13. The app does not solicit or collect personal information from minors.
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the app. The effective date above will be updated. Significant changes will be noted in the release notes or via the app's update information.
